Ho Chi Minh city ranked among top 3 best real estate markets in Asia-Pacific region

According to a social survey report released on November 12th Ho Chi Minh city won the third position among localities with the best real estate investment environment in the Asia-Pacific region, only after Singapore and Japan’s Tokyo.

The survey report was jointly conducted by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Pricewaterhouse Coopers and they also make a report on new trends in the Asia-Pacific real estate market in 2020.

The report said that as the geopolitical situation in the region is increasingly changing, investors have focused on the less risky markets.

Vietnamese surgeons use 3D printing to make replacement bones

Surgeons from Saint Paul hospital in Hanoi on November 11th announced to use a material called 3D printed PEEK for bone replacement operations on two patients.

The material PEEK which is similar properties to bone with the length of nearly 20 cm to create new pelvis using a 3D printer for two men who both have acute tumor in pelvis.

The first transplant of its kind was carried out on two unnamed men in their 50s and 40s. The new technique is expected to open new treatment for patients with tumor in bones.

Mouse deer species is found in Vietnam for first time in 30 years

In almost three decades, mouse deer (silver-backed chevrotain) that is believed to be on the brink of extinction has been appeared in a jungle in Vietnam for the first time.

A research published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution on November 11th said that the species was last recorded in 1990 when Vietnamese and Russian researchers obtained a specimen killed by a hunter.

According to information provided by local residents, scientists recently set camera traps in a jungle area near the central coastal city of Nha Trang, resulting in 275 photos of the species. Later, they set up another 29 cameras in the same area, recording 1,881 photos of the chevrotain over five months.

In the Search for Lost Species of the Global Wildlife Conservation (GWC) report, the silver-backed chevrotain is among the top 25 most wanted lost species.

The animal was first described in 1910 when four individuals were found near Nha Trang city. The fifth individual was collected from a hunter in central Vietnam in 1990./.
