Last of 16 Covid-19 patients in Vietnam cured

Director of the Vinh Phuc provincial Department of Health Nguyen Thanh Hai has announced that the final Covid-19 patient among 16 reported in Vietnam has completely cured from the disease.

During an online meeting on the disease prevention on February 25th, Mr. Hai said that the 16th patient was tested negative for the virus 2 successive times, one on February 23rd and one on February 24th.

“On February 25th, the general health test show that he is in a stable situation and healthy enough to be discharged from hospital,” said Mr. Hai. “The patient is completed cured.”

So far, 16 Covid-19 patients detected in Vietnam have been cured while the country has not reported any new one over the past 13 days and some localities has also not reported suspected cases. However, due to the complex development of the disease in the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan, health experts warn of increased preventive measures, including isolation of those who come from the RoK./.

Domestic gold prices on February 24th reached VND49.4 million (USD2,128.66) per tael (USD1,766.4 per ounce), presenting an eight-year high, compared to VND49.3 million VND per tael in 2011.

Domestic gold firms listed an increase of about VND4-5 million since February 21st afternoon.

On the global gold exchange Kitco, after passing a seven-year high, prices rose 2% to USD1,682.7 per ounce (USD2,027 per tael) the same day.

On the local market, a tael of gold was USD100 more than global prices, and websites of most gold firms were overloaded.

On the State Bank of Vietnam's website, there were no announcements regarding the management of gold prices./.

Bear sanctuary attracts foreign tourists

Since it was put into operation in March 2019, a bear sanctuary in Nho Quan district, the northern province of Ninh Binh has welcomed 2,500 visitors, including 2,000 international visitors.

The centre which has a total area of 10ha, and able to accommodate about 100 bears in a suitable semi-natural habitat, has cared for a total of 29 bears used to be kept in captivity and illegally traded to harvest their bile.

The sanctuary has also organised activities to help raise public awareness of bio-diversity conservation and environmental protection./.
