They include Le Phan Chan, born in 1900 in Hanoi; Dinh Truong Long, born in 1910 in Thanh Hoa; Vuong Thuc Thoai, born in 1910 in Nghe An; Vuong Thuc Lien, born in 1903 in Nghe An; Hoang The Tu, born in 1910 in Nghe An; Nguyen Sinh Than, born in 1908 in Nghe An; and Ngo Chi Thong, born in 1910 in Ha Tinh.

Of which, Le Phan Chan, Vuong Thuc Thoai, Vuong Thuc Lien, Hoang The Tu and Nguyen Sinh Than were conferred the first class Order of the Patriotic War by the Supreme Soviet Presidium on December 12th, 1986. They were also awarded posthumously the “Forty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945” medal.

Based on the initiative of President Ho Chi Minh, in 1926, some Vietnamese patriotic youngsters were sent to the Soviet Union for study. When the Second World War began, they decided to join the Red Army and most of them died in battle protecting Moscow in 1941.

Being invited to visit the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces and the museum complex on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War (1945-2020), Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh expressed his happiness at the recognition of the 7 Vietnamese soldiers’ profiles. “We are proud of the bravery of the Vietnamese soldiers, the outstanding youngsters sent to the Soviet Union for study by President Ho Chi Minh, in protecting Moscow and fighting Nazi Germany,” he said.

He confirmed that Vietnamese comradeship with Russian soldiers was a demonstration of the two countries’ communist solidarity and friendship in the Great Patriotic War of Russia.

The honoring of 7 Vietnamese soldiers in the Great Patriotic War of Russia does not only record their life contribution to the efforts to fight fascism, but it is also clear evidence for the long-term solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Russia./.
