Vietnamese ambassador presides over UNSC meeting on Mali’s situation

Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN), has presided over a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) which looked into issues regarding Mali’s political and security situation.

At the meeting, UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre LaCroix presented the UN Secretary General’s report on the political and security in Mali and the operation of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission (MINUSMA) in the country, reported VNA.

Ambassador Quy shared the concern of the UN Secretary General and other countries over the situation in Mali, and condemned attacks against civilians, security forces in Mali and MINUSMA.

He also appealed to the concerned sides to fulfill their task of protecting innocent people, especially women and children, enhance women’s full, practical and comprehensive engagement in political and economic process in Mali, and support the operation of MINUSMA and efforts of the international community in assisting the Malian government to preserve international peace and security.

Hanoi expects to welcome nearly 32 million tourists this year

Hanoi city Department of Tourism aims to attract more than 8.2 million foreigners and nearly 23.8 million domestic visitors this year, representing year-on-year increases of 17 percent and 8 percent, respectively.

The capital expects to raise the number of tourist arrivals by over 10 percent from last year to nearly 32 million in 2020.

Hanoi ranked 15th among the world’s best 25 places selected by readers of the TripAdvisor website. The Mastercard Asia Pacific Destinations Index gave the city the 15th position among the top 20 destinations in the region.

In addition, it was also named one of the world’s cheapest places for travel in the 2019 Backpacker Index by Price of Travel, the world’s largest database of travel costs./.
