More and more tourists flock to Hanoi 

Hanoi ranked 15th position and Ho Chi Minh City stood at 18th among Mastercard’s top 20 Asia-Pacific destinations for international travelers this year.

Mastercard ranked 161 cities in the Asia-Pacific based on the number of overnight international arrivals and travel spending, using data primarily from national tourism boards.

The number of overnight international tourists of the two cities was 4.8 million and 4.1 million with average spend per day of USD78 and USD98, respectively.

The average spending by foreign tourists was USD78 a day in Hanoi last year and USD98 in HCMC, much lower than in Bangkok USD184), Singapore (USD272), Kuala Lumpur (USD142), Phuket (USD247), or Bali (USD125), according to Mastercard.  

In 2018, Asia Pacific hosted travelers making 342.2 million business and leisure trips, up from 159.1 million in 2009, representing an 8.9% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the nine year period.

Vietnam to host Asia-Pacific Bonsai Exhibition 2019

The 15th Asia-Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibition will be held at the Suoi Tien Amusement Park in Ho Chi Minh city from November 15th-20th, with the participation of 52 countries.

The event will feature about 2,000 bonsai works, 300 natural stone art works, known as Suiseki, and 150 works of natural landscape art, also known as Penjing Art, made by artisans nationwide.

On the sidelines, a wide range of activities will be held, including a photo contest featuring Bonsai art, a workshop showcasing both global and Vietnamese bonsai, as well as sightseeing tours.

In addition, international visitors will have opportunities to enjoy the art of Bonsai, meet and exchange experiences with Bonsai masters, join popular sightseeing tours, and buy souvenirs.

This year’s show is expected to welcome approximately 50,000 domestic and 4,000 international arrivals.

Nearly 2 million tickets offered for Lunar New Year

Vietnam Airlines and VASCO to offer about 1.4 million seats for Lunar New Year


Vietnam Airlines Group, encompassing the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific, and the Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), has opened sales of nearly 2 million tickets for domestic flights for the 2020 traditional Lunar New Year from January 9th to February 8th.

According to a representative of the group, the national flag carrier and VASCO will offer close to 1.4 million seats on 7,600 flights. Meanwhile, Jetstar Pacific will offer nearly 600,000 seats on some 3,000 flights.

The airlines will offer more flights for domestic routes with big travel demand./.
