11 months: Industrial production index lower than the same period

The Industrial Production Index (IPI) in November was estimated to increase 7.2% over a year earlier and the index is higher than 6.5% of October, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Of this, the index of the mining sector dropped 13.8% while the production of processing and manufacturing rose 13.1%, electricity generation and distribution increased 12.9% and water supply and garbage and sewage treatment soared 8.5%.

Totalling the 11 months, IPI surged 7.3% compared to the same period last year, lower than the 7.4% of first ten months of the year and 9.9% of the same period last year.

The production index surged 11% in processing and manufacturing, contributing 7.7% percentage points to the common increase; soared 12.3% in electricity generation and distribution (0.8 percentage points), increased 7% in water supply and garbage and sewage treatment (0.1% percentage point), but sharply dropped 6.3% in mining, down 1.3 percentage points.

As of November 1st, the inventory index of the processing and manufacturing sector expanded 8.8% year on year, down 0.9% compared to the growth of the same period last year.

The average index of the sector in the first ten months of the year was 66.9%, much lower than 72.9% of the same period last year./.
