Reviewing agricultural, forestry and fisheries export since the beginning of the year, Mr. Tuan said that the most outstanding point was in rice export, in both quantity and price, as there was an increasing demand for rice in the world market.
Meanwhile, fruits were exported to selective markets such as Japan, the US and Australia, while Vietnamese fruits gained high prestige on the Australian market, opening up great potential for the exports of these products to high quality markets in the years to come.
Regarding agricultural, forestry and fisheries export in the second half of this year, he added that if the situation proceeded well like in the second half of June, the agricultural sector is likely to obtain the export turnover of USD41 billion for the whole year.
To realize the goal in export turnover, the sector aims to develop a modern agricultural production which suits international integration and is adaptable with climate change, thus increasing products’ added value and sustainable development, according to Mr. Tuan.
“Measures will be carried out to increase productivity and quality of products; expand export markets by stabilizing traditional markets and seeking potential ones; exploit the opportunities brought about by free trade agreements; link with global consumption systems; and prepare all conditions for the implementation of the Europe - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement,” he went on to say.
He also confirmed that the domestic market of around 100 million people is an attractive one, adding that the sector, apart from providing safe and high quality products, will focus more on encouraging domestic consumers to use Vietnamese products. “At present, some 3,000 locations of safe agricultural products for sale should be expanded,” he said./.
