Agriculture, forestry and fishery exports bag USD17.8 billion

Export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in July was estimated to reach USD2.64 billion, bringing the total figure for the first seven months this year to USD17.8 billion, up 5.1% over a year earlier, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In July, rice volume posted 274,000 tonnes, valued at USD120 million, bringing the figures in the seven months to 2.93 million tonnes and USD1.32 billion, down 18.4% in volume and 14.4% in value year on year.

China continued to top Vietnam’s rice import markets with over 35% of market share, followed by Indonesia (11.6%). Markets with sharp value increase were Ghana (41%) and Ivory Coast (31.3%).

On the contrary, markets with value reduction were the Philippines (54.3%), Malaysia (59.2%) and Singapore (34.6%).

Pepper export saw a 26% rise in volume and a 9% increase in value at 122,000 tonnes and USD988 million in the seven months. Average export price dropped over 13% compared to the same period last year.

Coffee export witnessed growth in both export volume and value at 38% (1.13 million tones) and 18% (USD1.98 billion), respectively.

Rubber export volume posted 564,000 tonnes, valued at USD705 million, up 8.8% in volume but down 7% in value over a year earlier.

Cashew export posted 189,000 tonnes, worth USD1.46 billion, representing a 2.5% in volume and 9% in value year on year.

The value of forestry exports was estimated to reach USD581 million in July, raising the figure from the start of the year to USD3.98 billion, up 0.8% year on year. The US, Japan and China were the main export markets of Vietnam’s wood and wooden products in the first half of the year, making up 68% of the total export value of the commodity.

Fishery exports reached an estimated USD564 million, bringing the figure for the seven months to USD3.65 billion, up 3.3% compared to the same period last year. The US, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (RoK) were the top exporters of Vietnam’s seafood in the first half of the year, accounting for 53% of the country’s total./.
