Ms. Nguyen Thanh Le, Head of International Cooperation Office under the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Enterprises Development Agency, said APEC O2O Forum would contribute to intensifying the digital competitiveness for new enterprises; providing new methods in presenting business plans to the board of directors, increasing the awareness of SMEs and new enterprises about new challenges in the digital economic period.

In addition, delegates representing APEC economies also discussed subjects such as liberating the potential of SMEs with a digital shift towards a future of integration, and methods for SMEs to use digital technology to reach people anytime and anywhere.

Pei-Ti Hu, Deputy Director General, Small and Medium Enterprise Administration at the Chinese Taipei, Ministry of Economic Affairs (Republic of China), said in recent times, we saw SMEs being transformed thanks to technological application. Owners of SMEs are now able to work with international clients by using the Internet. However, SMEs also face many new challenges, especially network security issues and many SMEs are still subjective and unprepared to confront the issues.

According to delegates, with the development of online technology, network economy has become a core part of economic growth for the current time. Newly-established companies and SMEs will meet many obstacles in international transaction and international market access if they don’t know how to capitalize on digital transformation.

The one-day forum attracted around 100 stakeholders./.
