Bridge to develop Vietnam - US economic relations

(CPV) - The US-ASEAN Business Council and American enterprises should continue paying attention to and expanding business and investment in Vietnam, being a bridge to introduce and attract more new companies to Vietnam to do long-term and stable business.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC), and Head of PCC’s Commission for Economics, made this suggestion at a meeting with the US-ASEAN Business Council and representatives being leaders of 40 top companies and groups like Microsoft, Google, GE and FedEx, on March 13th, in Hanoi.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh hailed the achievements in the Vietnam - US relations over the past time with the milestones of the 25th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral economic relations and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Vietnam.

He said the Vietnam - US comprehensive partnership has been developing practically, effectively and deepening in all fields, especially economics, trade and investment, with bilateral trade turnover increasing 133 fold from USD450 million in 1995 to more than USD60 billion in 2018.

He affirmed the US business community has been playing a significant role in the process of developing bilateral relations and speeding up development goals of Vietnam.

Alexander Feldman, President and CEO of the US - ASEAN Business Council, expressed thanks to Mr. Binh for spending time to receive the delegation. He stressed the expectation of receiving the support of the Party and State of Vietnam to boost business activities of American companies, while noting that the strong development in the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries is an important foundation to intensify the comprehensive cooperative relations in the near future./.
