CBU imports rise sharply in ten months

(CPV) - The volume of imported CBU (completely-built unit) autos in the first ten months this year reached 97,320, valued at USD2.33 billion, an 88.1% rise in volume and a 101.8% increase in value, reported the General Department of Customs.

 

Of this, the volume of under nine-seat autos, hit a five-year high because local dealerships continued to import small and cheap autos.

Specifically, over the past ten months, the country imported 17,490 under nine-seat auto from India, accounting for 45% of the total on this category or a year-on-year rise of 105%.

China has been the biggest auto provider to the Vietnamese market with 21,050 units, up 115% and this figure was followed by the Republic of Korea with 20,790 units (up 59.3%), Thailand, 20,330 units (up 89.9%) and India, 17,540 units (up 104.2%)./.
