Central Highlands province expands export markets

Over the past years, the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has expanded export scale and markets, with rather high growth rate.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, in the 2016-2020 period, estimated export turnover reached over USD5 billion by diversifying goods of export, notably coffee, cashew nuts and pepper. In 2019 alone, the export turnover reached nearly USD1.3 billion, an increase of 12.11% compared to 2018.

Cashew nuts was one of products earning high export value in 2019, with USD569 million. The new export product, alumina, has also made active contributions to export turnover over the past years, and reported USD329 million in turnover in 2019.

Synchronous coordination among authorized agencies and businesses has helped boost export, especially export of agricultural products, helping businesses enjoy preferential export tax and farmers’ products to be consumed all over the world.

In particular, Dak Nong has carried out activities to promote trade; assist businesses enhance competitiveness and quality of products, expand export markets and develop potential markets. More and more businesses join in export activities as the province has provided them with favourable mechanisms, policies and legal procedures.

As a result, it has exported more processed products and reduced the amount of exported crude ones.

So far, businesses have set up relationships with 35 foreign markets, with stable export activities mainly with Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, the US, the Philippines and Japan. Meanwhile, businesses have actively expanded export markets in Africa and the Middle East./.
