These figures were released in an online meeting held by the General Department of Customs on January 10th to summarize activities in 2016 and carry out tasks for 2017.

Mr. Nguyen Van Can, Head of the General Department of Customs, said that the highlight of the sector in 2016 is the application of information technology to professional activities. Specifically, the organ implemented 46 online public services, bringing the number of customs procedures at level 3 to 119 out of 168 administrative formalities, making up 71%.

The implementation of customs procedures was continuously simplified thanks to customs supervision in accordance with Article 41 of the Customs Law, helping to reduce customs clearance time and increase the effectiveness of monitoring, controlling and preventing the transport of illegal goods from the supervised area.

Currently, it is coordinating with ministries and branches to operate a national one-door mechanism at international airports, which is scheduled on March 1st, 2017.

The General Department is assigned to collect VND285 trillion for the state budget in 2017, an increase of 5.6% from the estimate of 2016./.
