Dak Lak strives to achieve coffee export turnover of USD600-650 million by 2020

(CPV) - The sustainable coffee development project of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak by 2020, with an orientation to 2030, has been approved by the provincial People’s Council.

The project aims to develop the province’s coffee sector sustainably, improve the quality and diversify products to bring higher added value.

It also prioritizes the application of hi-tech to production phases, processing and organization of production management; improve income for farmers and enterprises; well manage natural resources; protect the ecological environment and respond to climate change.

Accordingly, Dak Lak strives to achieve an annual coffee export turnover of USD600-650 million by 2020 and USD700-800 million after 2020; to reduce coffee area to 180,000 hectares with average output of 450,000 tons a year by 2020, and have the area remain stable at 170,000-180,000 hectares with average output of 550,000 tons a year by 2030.

Aiming to fulfil these targets, the project also gives solutions to organize production, train human resources, intensify the application of science-technology and mechanization; promote trade and build the trademark and ensure water sources for coffee production to adapt to climate change.

Total investment capital to realize the project is VND2.668 trillion, in which VND15 billion is provided from the provincial budget and VND2.653 trillion is mobilized from enterprises and people./.
