Eight Mekong Delta provinces supported 530 billion VND to prevent drought and salinization

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just signed Decision 504/QD-TTg with finance to support preventing drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta region.

Accordingly, the government will provide 530 billion VND from the central budget reserve in 2020 for 8 Mekong Delta provinces, including: Ben Tre (70 billion VND), Long An (70 billion VND), Tien Giang (70 billion VND), Ca Mau (70 billion VND), Kien Giang (70 billion VND), Soc Trang (60 billion VND), Tra Vinh (60 billion VND) and Bac Lieu (60 billion VND), to implement solutions such as pumping water, dredging canals and damming.

The Prime Minister asked the localities to be responsible for using the supported funds, local budgets and other legal financial sources to deploy urgent solutions to prevent drought, water shortage and saline intrusion, which are suitable with regulations, proper purposes, efficiency, publicity and transparency./.
