First batch of seafood products exported in 2018

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) on January 14th ordered an issue for the first batch of seafood products exported in 2018 at Cat Lai port in Ho Chi Minh city.

Accordingly, the batch includes 20 tons of frozen shrimp to Canada, valued at USD290,020; 20 tons of sea fish to the US worth USD216,700; and 22 tons of tra fish fillet to the EU at USD84,040.

At the event, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said that in 2017, the aquaculture sector surpassed the set target USD8.3 billion in export turnover for the first time

This impressive result over the past year has helped traders boost export activities and determine to exceed the plan in 2018.

This year, the ministry set a target of USD8.5 billion in export value and heading to the goal of USD10 billion in 2020, Minister Cuong added./.
