Fruit and vegetable export value was estimated at USD1 billion in the first four months of the year, a 32.6% rise over a year earlier, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Dragon fruit is among Vietnam's fruits exported to the selective market

China, the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea are Vietnam’s four leading fruit and vegetable export markets, together accounting for 82.9% of the value.

Markets with sharp increases value were: Russia (88.7%), Japan (50.9%), Thailand (34%), China (33.3%), Malaysia (32.8%), the Republic of Korea (18.7%), and the US (13.3%).

Statistics from the Ministry showed that, since early April 2017, prices of coconut and rambutan in Ben Tre and Vinh Long continued to climb, while prices of vegetables in Lam Dong tended to decrease due to abundant supply and favourable climate.

This year, fruit and vegetable exports are expected to hit about USD3 billion.

Currently, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports appear in nearly 60 markets worldwide. Litchi, rambutan, dragon fruit, mango, longan and star apple fruit are now being exported to selective markets such as the US, Australia, Japan and the Republic of Korea./.
