Hai Phong city to have USD180 million-shopping mall

(CPV) - The Hai Phong Investment - Trade - Tourism Promotion Center and Viet Phat Import Export Trading Investment Joint Stock Company on September 20th inked a MoU with AEON MALL Vietnam to develop a new mall in the maritime city of Hai Phong.

Accordingly, the Japanese specialist shopping mall developer will invest, build, manage and develop integrated shopping malls and provide related services, including catering services, amusement parks for children as well as rent space, counters, shelves which have been constructed, installed, decorated.

The USD180 million-facility covers 9.3 hectares at Ho Sen - Cau Rao 2 route, Kenh Duong ward and Vinh Niem ward, Le Chan district, port city of Hai Phong. It will be the 3rd mall in the North and 6th one of the company in the country.

Scheduled to come into operation in 2020, each year, AEON MALL Hai Phong-Le Chan is expected to attract over 13 million visitors.

“We are very happy to start the project in a new but very potential Hai Phong market, to grow up and carry out the sustainable development together with Hai Phong local authorities, our business partners and especially with the citizens of Hai Phong city. We want our mall to become focal points in local communities. That is why every mall that we develop and operate is firmly rooted in the life of its community and is designed as a place full of fun and excitement to enhance the enjoyment of life for everyone. By 2025, we have planned to build up 20 shopping malls across Vietnam”, said Mr. Iwamura Yasutsugu, General Director of AEON MALL Vietnam.

This MoU follows the previous one signed between AEON MALL Vietnam and Hai Phong authority investment promotion conference under the witness of Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during his state visit to Japan last June.

According to Le Van Thanh, a 12th PCC member, Secretary of the city Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council, the investment of AEON MALL in Hai Phong will meet people's shopping needs and contribute to developing Hai Phong as a commercial center of the North. 

"The completion of the project will generate jobs for more than 2,000 people, and at the same time increase our budget revenues as well create incentives for hundreds of medium and small enterprises in the city", he said./.
