Hai Phong delivers 6,500-ton tanker to Korean partner

The Pha Rung Shipbuilding Company in the northern port city of Hai Phong has delivered an oil/chemical tanker with a capacity of 6,500 tons to a company of the Republic of Korea, reported Vietnam News Agency.

The 109.45m-long YN GWANGYANG was designed by the Asia Ship Design & Consultants Co., Ltd. It is the last of three 6,500-ton oil tankers ordered by BS Tanker and Yantec since 2006.

Equipment installed on the tanker was mostly made in the Republic of Korea, Japan and Europe. It has a capacity of 18 crew members.

General Director of the Pha Rung One-member Shipbuilding Co., Ltd Vu Huu Chien said this tanker has many high requirements of technology, quality and stability, adding that it is a product of the strength of his firm.

Kim Young-soo, President of BS Tanker of the RoK - the owner of YN GWANGYANG, said the successful building of the 6,500-ton tankers is expected to pave the way for the prosperous development of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry and RoK shipping companies in the coming time./.
