Hanoi sees IIP rise 2.1% in August

Hanoi’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in August rose 2.1% from the previous month and 7.8% over a year earlier, reported its Department of Statistics.

This month, major products of the city’s industrial sector still maintained moderate growth against July, such as confectionery (9.9%), overcoats of all kinds (12.3%), fertilizer (38.2%), and transformer using liquid dielectric (13.6%).
Some key industrial products saw production fall due to not signing new contracts and having to compete with imported products such as beer (7.8%), pesticides and chemical products used for agriculture (20%), ready-mixed concrete (17%) and metal roofing (3.2%).
These figures brought the total index from the start of the year to 7.1%. Of this, processing and manufacturing industry increased 7.4%; electricity production and distribution (7.6%); and water supply, waste and waste water collection and treatment (1.5%).
Some industrial products saw higher production than the same period last year, such as knitted cloth (20.2%), paper, cover for writing and printing (164.8%), refrigerators (44.1%), vehicle spare parts (21%), and electric commodities (7.6%)./.
