This is the first times Vietnam’s urban cities appeared in the Top 10. Both HCM city and Hanoi are categorized as “High Potential Cities” driven by low costs, rapid consumer market expansion and high levels of foreign direct investment.

The Vietnam’s southern hub ranks second, only after India’s Bangalore, while the northern metropolis was at number eight, finding it in the Top 10 for the first time.

Aspects such as GDP, Population, Technology, Corporate Headquarters, Innovation, FDI, Real Estate and Air Traffic were considered for the survey.

In addition, Environment and Housing for people are other factors considered for the survey. The liveability of a city is the key to attract talents to live and work.

For these, in the 2017 Global Top 30 most dynamic cities, rapidly growing cities such as Beijing and Delhi ranked last due to environmental pollution issues.

The forum also noted that though the chosen cities are spread across the world, more than half of those in the Top 30 belong to the Asia-Pacific region.

Other cities listed in the Top 10 are Bengaluru (India), Silicon Valley (the US), Shanghai (China), Hyderabad (India), London (the UK), Austin (the US), Boston (the US) and Nairobi (Kenya)

The Global Top 30 list was released by Chicago-based financial and professional services firm JLL at the WEF./.
