Ho Chi Minh city attracts over USD310 million in FDI

In January, Ho Chi Minh city attracted USD310.82 million, accounting for 41.68% compared to the same period last year, the city Department of Planning and Investment has reported.

According to Le Thi Huynh Mai, Department Director, wholesale and retail sector; and repairing of automobile, motorbikes and engined vehicles continued to be the sectors that attracted the largest amount of FDI (68.3%), followed by construction, science and technology, processing and manufacturing industry, healthcare and aid activities.

The leading investors came from Singapore (50%), Japan (12.7%), China (10.7%), and some others. 

Also in January, 16 projects that had been licensed earlier increased their capital by USD40.97 million.

The city agreed with 484 foreign investors on contributing capital, and buying shares from domestic businesses with a capital of over USD221 million./.
