Representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association said that Ho Chi Minh City is the largest economic center of Vietnam, with many businesses in many fields, including tourism businesses. The administration of the city is also encouraging and supporting the formation of large-scale businesses, which have strong potential and high competitiveness in the region.

However, from the beginning of 2020 up to now, the impact of COVID-19 pandemic has caused the global economic crisis, directly affecting Ho Chi Minh City’s economic development and members of the association. The city's tourism sector is affected when foreign tourists have not yet entered. Accounting for 62% of the city's total product value structure, the low revenue from the tourism sector has reduced the city’s economic growth indicators.

Therefore, representatives of associations want the heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad for the term 2020-2023 to continue to support and help members of the associations to connect, promote cooperation and seek partners to promote trade activities and export of the city.

Mr. Nguyen Hoanh Nam, Vice Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese, who has just been nominated as the Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico, highly appreciated the efforts of enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City, especially businesses operating in the tourism sector.

He affirmed that economic diplomacy is one of the pillars of Vietnam’s Foreign Affairs and is deployed synchronously, comprehensively. Particularly, Vietnam’s representative agencies abroad actively introduce opportunities, partners and potential markets, as well as coordinating and supporting domestic agencies and enterprises to promptly handle international economic disputes.

Therefore, businesses can take advantage of connecting with nearly 30 heads of Vietnamese representative missions in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, America, Australia and Middle East, at the meeting.

At the meeting, representatives of associations and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad for the term 2020-2023 directly exchanged needs and possibilities for support and cooperation in the following time./.
