Ho Chi Minh city calls investment into 130 projects

Ho Chi Minh city has called on domestic and foreign businesses to invest into over 130 projects, including 116 socialized projects, 11 national projects and six belonging to the Thu Thiem new urban area, the city Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) reported during an investment promotion meeting for 2017 on October 11th.

Of the 116 socialized projects, there are 64 traffic infrastructure projects, five urban technical infrastructure projects, seven flooding prevention projects, three agricultural projects, an industrial project, four service and trade projects, 21 urban decoration and resettlement housing construction projects, six educational projects, a healthcare project, and four cultural and sports projects.

The 11 national projects include 9 traffic infrastructure projects, an educational and training project and a healthcare project. Meanwhile, the six projects in the Thu Thiem new urban area consist of a hotel project, four international standard school projects and a theatre project.

According to Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee, the city has focused its call on investment on nine groups of services for promoting the city’s economic development, including finance, banking, insurance; tourism; logistics, port and warehouse; posts, telecommunications, information and communications; real estate business; consultancy; science and technology; healthcare; and education and training. Meanwhile, four industries that receive the city’s care in calling investment include mechanics; electronics - information and technology; chemical - plastic - rubber; and food processing.

Ho Chi Minh city currently contributes 21% of national GDP, one third of the national budget, one fifth of the export turnover, half of the international tourists, and 30% of foreign direct investment projects in Vietnam./.
