Ho Chi Minh city, Tien Giang sign cooperative deals for 14 fields

(CPV) – On April 4th, the People’s Committees of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) city and Tien Giang province organized a conference to partially sum up the cooperative program for socio-economic development between the two localities in the 2009-2016 period, and cooperative orientations for the 2017-2020 period.

In his report at the event, Deputy Director of the HCM city Department of Planning and Investment Tran Thi Binh Minh said there have been 47 projects of enterprises of the southern hub licensed in Tien Giang with a total capital of more than VND13 trillion.

For transport, the southern hub invested more than VND1 trillion in tapping My Tho Port and building Ngu Hiep Wharf, Kenh Nang Bridge and Kenh Lo Bridge in Tien Giang.

For natural resources and environment, scientific staff and managers of the southern city cooperated and assisted Tien Giang to realize important projects, such as: Tien Giang environmental protection scheme by 2020; environmental pollution reduction program for the 2013-2015 period with orientation for the 2015-2020 period; and survey, statistics, evaluation and building of action plan for biodiversity in Tien Giang in the 2010-2020 period. 

On the foundation of promoting the achievements and repairing the shortcomings, HCM city and Tien Giang agreed to intensify comprehensive socio-economic cooperation and considered it as a long-term strategic task in order to promote the advantages of each locality; meeting the development and integration tendency. 

On this occasion, Chairmen of the People’s Committees of the two localities Nguyen Thanh Phong and Le Van Huong signed a cooperative deal for socio-economic development in the 2017-2020 period, covering 14 fields: investment attraction, agriculture and agricultural development, industry, trade, tourism, information and communications, construction, transport, science and technology, health, education and training, natural resources and environment, employment and training, and foreign affairs./.
