Nghe An province, Japanese partners enhance cooperation on agriculture

(CPV) - On the occasion of the third high-level dialogue meeting on Japan-Vietnam agricultural cooperation, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on September 28th organized an exchange meeting to promote the cooperation between Nghe An and Vietnamese/Japanese partners.

Various enterprises from Nghe An province introduced their agri-business activities and visions to Japanese partners, and exhibit their products.

While more than 30 Japanese enterprises and agencies also presented their business ideas to seek cooperation with Vietnamese partners.

A medium to long-term vision for establishing food value chains in Vietnam has been formed through high-level dialogues by the Governments of Vietnam and Japan since June 2014 and approved by both countries this August. The goal of this cooperation framework is to promote exchange and cooperation between the two countries for the development of food value chain in collaboration with private investment.

Under this cooperation policy, JICA implements the "Technical cooperation project on development planning of agriculture sector in Nghe An" to establish a food value chain in connection with not only Vietnamese but also international market.

Nghe An province has been selected as one of the model regions to develop food value chain as is has varieties of geographical conditions including sea, plain, hill and mountain. So, assorted varieties of crops are currently produced in this locality, such as high-quality grains and vegetables in the alluvial plains, high-value passion fruits and orange in the hilly area and high-quality and safe tea and ginger in the mountainous area./.
