The event was co-organized by Sekong and Quang Nam provinces with the participation of leaders of the two localities, branches and departments; investors and businesses in the central region and Central Highlands.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Khampeuy Bouddavieng, Governor of Sekong, emphasized that the conference aims to concretize the relations, friendship and cooperation between the two sides.

Over the past 30 years, people of Sekong experienced many challenges to protect and develop the locality. During this process, the province received assistance from Vietnamese people, especially timely support from Quang Nam and Vietnam’s central coastal provinces, he added.

Two years into the implementation of the 2016-2020 economic development plan, the province continues to enjoy remarkable economic growth, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 9.17% and a per capita income of LAK12.64 million (about USD1,580), said a representative from the province.

Mr. Dinh Van Thu, Chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee, said that the central coastal province and the Lao locality have a long-term and close relation, and always support each other to develop and achieve many significant results.

He emphasized that the assistance and coordination with Sekong to organize the conference is clear evidence for the close cooperative relations between the two sides and is also an opportunity to further strengthening the relationship./.
