Over 477,800 enterprises operate in 2016

As of December 31st, 2016, Vietnam had 477,808 ongoing enterprises, a 8% increase from the previous year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO) in a press conference on April 11th.

Provinces and cities seeing higher increase in enterprise development growth than in 2015 are Dong Nai (24%), Binh Duong (19.3%), Ben Tre (15.9%) and Kien Giang (15.4%).
Ho Chi Minh city recorded the country’s highest enterprise density with 33.6% (up 7.8%), followed by Hanoi with 23.1% (up 6.5%) and Da Nang with 2.68% (up 10.9%).
According to GSO, the enterprises offered jobs to 12.85 million workers with the number of workers rising by 9.4% a year in the 2000-2015 period. Total investment capital in state-owned enterprises reached nearly VND23.657 trillion, with capital increasing by 22.8% a year during the same period.
Total pre-tax profits of enterprises reached VND552.7 trillion in 2015 with average income growth of 19% in the 2000-2015 period, lower than the growth rate of capital and revenue./.
