Over 50,500 enterprises formed in five months

(CPV) - Vietnam had 10,954 enterprises established in May 2017 with a total registered capital of VND119.2 trillion, up 9.3% in number of enterprises and up 17.8% in capital on year, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

This month also saw 1,913 enterprises recovering their operation, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%; 5,322 enterprises suspending their operation, up 26.8%; and 628 enterprises completing dissolution documents, down 28.9%.

Totalling the first five months of the year, the country had 50,534 newly-established enterprises with a total registered capital of VND485.6 trillion, up 12.9% in enterprises and up 39% in capital compared to the corresponding period of 2016. On average, each enterprise registered VND9.6 trillion for establishment. 

With the VND710.8 trillion of increased capital from ongoing enterprises, total capital pouring into the economy in the five months reached over VND1.196 trillion .

In addition, the resuming of operation of 13,458 enterprises brought the total number of enterprises in the economy during the period to nearly 64,000.

The number of newly-established firms in every region saw increases against the same period last year, including northern midlands and mountainous region (22.8%), Red River delta (17.4%), and Southeast region (11%)./.
