PetroVietnam received Gold Star Order- most noble reward

CPV: In Hanoi, today (June 13), the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam-PVN) organised the second Patriotic Emulation Congress and received the Gold Star Order, the most noble reward of the nation – for its dramatically significant achievements in the cause of national development and protection, remarkably contributing to the national industrialization and modernization.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former State President Tran Duc Luong, To Huy Rua- Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC Commission for Propaganda and Education, Pham The Duyet - former Politburo member and Chairman of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien, leaders of Ministries, Committees and Central Agencies, and 1,000 deputies representing 35,000 PVN staff attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the PVN for implementing patriotic emulations and fulfilling set targets, which have positively contributed to national liberation and unification for development and international integration. He called on PVN to make effective use of capital and natural resources, protect the environment, upgrade technology, intensify the training of human resources, business and production, practice thrift, combat corruption and improve its staff’s cultural and spiritual lives.

On behalf of leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Dung presented the Gold Star Order to PVN and conferred the title of Labour Hero on the Oil and Gas Technical Service Joint Stock Corporation (PTSC) and Mr Truong Van Tuyen, Head of the Management Board of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery and President of the Binh Son Oil Refining and Petro - chemistry Company.

On this occasion, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien awarded the Independence Order, third class to four PVN collectives.

In the 2006-2010 period, PVN has implemented 739 initiatives for technical renovation which have benefited the oil and gas sector and the country by more than 68 million USD. Through practicing thrift practice and anti-wastefulness, it also has saved more than 2,570 billion VND.

Earlier, thanks to remarkable contributions of oil and gas industry to the national industrialization and modernization cause, PVN has received many noble rewards and awards from the State: Military Achievement Order in 1998; First-rank Independence Order in 1995; Ho Chi Minh Order in 2000; Second-rank Feat of Arms Order in 2001; Title of Labor Hero (2 times) for the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture and 3 individuals; the Governmental Emulation Flag for emulation and remuneration of the first-prize group in 2007, and second-prize group in 2006 and 2008. Particularly, PVN was honored to receive the Title of Labor Hero in 2008. Many organsiations and individuals also received Independence Orders, Achievement Orders, Labor Orders and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister.
