The index in the eight months increased 2.58% against December 2015 and 1.19% compared to the same period last year.

Six out of 11 commodity and services groups saw price rises, including medicine and health services (6.18%), education (0.47%), garments, textiles, hats and footwear (0.14%), other commodities and services (0.11%), beverage and cigarette (0.05%) and household devices and appliances (0.05%).

According to GSO, the CPI rise was attributed to raising prices of health services in 16 localities in line with the Joint document issued the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance. This made the price index of health services rise 8.12%.

Some provinces and centrally-governed cities also increased the cost of education services, following the route of the Government. This contributed to the CPI’s increase.

Following it was restaurant and catering (0.14%), education, entertainment and tourism (0.12%), post and telecom (0.03%), housing and building materials (0.02%)./.
