The central province of Quang Ngai on March 14th launched Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day 2018, themed “Healthy Business - Sustainable Consumption”.

The launch ceremony

Deputy Head of the Quang Ngai People’s Committee Nguyen Tang Binh said over the past time, the province directed all levels and branches to comprehensively carry out important solutions to improve the quality of goods, well control the market and protect the rights of consumers.

Quang Ngai also effectively implemented activities such as selling promotional Vietnamese goods, bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas, and organizing market days for workers and programs to stabilize market prices during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

He asked enterprises to continue to improve business culture and apply advanced and modern technology during their production processes, supplying environmentally friendly products and ensuring quality and reasonable prices for consumers.

They should define the protection of consumers’ rights as protecting their own prestige and development, he added.

In 1983, the UN selected March 15th as World Consumer Rights Day with eight basic rights: the right to safety, the right to satisfaction of basic needs, the right to redress, the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to be heard, the right to be educated and trained about consumption, and the right to have healthy and sustainable living environment.

On July 10th, 2015, the Government leader also selected March 15th as Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day to launch activities to protect rights of consumers nationwide (Decision 035/QD-TTg)./.
