Rice export sharply increased

In February, Vietnam exported 400,000 tons of rice, earning USD176 million, an increase of 45.6% in quantity and 50.8% in value, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has reported.

It also revealed that besides cassava, rice saw a high increase of export turnover among agricultural products.
According to experts, during the complex development of Covid-19, there will be an increase of demand for rice storage in large countries, especially China. Meanwhile, Vietnamese rice export prices are lower than that of Thailand and India, two major rice exporters. All provide increased rice export.
A series of free trade agreements going into effect will also bring opportunities for rice exports, particularly with the EU./.
