Statistics showed 110 million MSMEs are now operating in APEC member economies.

The enterprises play a very important role in both Vietnam and the APEC region, accounting for 79% of total enterprises, and contributing about 65% of job coverage and 30-40% of export value.

However, MSMEs meet many difficulties due to thin finance, weak technology and inadequate human resources, while access to capital and finance funding is limited due to insufficient financial resources to join the global supply chain.

At the seminar, delegates discussed opportunities and challenges MSMEs are facing in the field of export and services, and exchanged policy directions in order to enhance the capacity of export and services for this type of enterprise.

Sergio Arzeni, Chairman of APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Committee for Export and Services, said that economic growth in the region is now very positive and will be higher in the following years.

He expected Vietnam’s economic growth will reach about 6.3% next year. However, aiming to meet the expectation, it is highly dependent on policymakers, and companies need to seize and exploit opportunities, he added/.
