Southern hub collects over VND147 trillion for state budget

Ho Chi Minh city’s budget collection reached more than VND147.46 trillion from the start of 2017, a year-on-year rise of 18.4% and 42.39% of the year’s estimate.

These figures were announced by Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Director of Department of Finance, in a May 29th conference on the city’s socio-economic situation over the past five years.

Specifically, domestic collection increased nearly 23%, while those from crude oil and export-import activities rose 27% and 9.24%, respectively.

Regarding investment and basic construction, Mr. Su Ngoc Anh, Director of Department of Planning and Investment, said that during the period, the southern hub spent VND76.5 trillion investing in basic construction of major and urgent projects, a 9.2% increase over a year earlier.

The budget was mainly used for bridge, road, drainage and sewage projects, such as Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Railway, steel overpass bridge at the Go Vap intersection with the opening of a branch of Nguyen Oanh - Nguyen Kiem road and the premise clearance of Nguyen Oanh - Pham Ngu Lao Bridge and steel bridge at the Nguyen Thai Son - Nguyen Kiem intersection./.
