Southern hub to operate two river bus routes in 2017

Ho Chi Minh city will launch two river bus routes in 2017, which is considered a break-through solution for the city’s transport through reducing pressure on road traffic.

Specifically, the first route departs from Bach Dang Wharf, runs along Sai Gon river, through Thanh Da canal and stops at Binh Quoi Wharf in Linh Dong precinct, Thu Duc district and vice versa. The route is nearly 11 kilometers in length and has seven bus stops in District 1, 2, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc districts.

The second route is more than 10 kilometers long. It starts from Bach Dang Wharf, runs along Sai Gon river, through Ben Nghe irrigation canal, Tau Hu canal, District 1, 4, 5, 6 and 8 and vice versa.

The centre wharf of the two river bus routes will be built in Linh Dong precinct on an area of about 3 ha.

The project has a total investment capital of about VND128 billion, under the public-private partnership type./.
