In his speech at the ceremony, Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of Board of Directors of Thaco (Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company), said the factory is built on an area of 35 hectares with 12 plants. It has a capacity of 100,000 cars a year with a total investment capital VND12 trillion, of which, a half will be produced in the first phase.

The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in April 2018.

The end of 2016 marked six years of cooperation between Mazda and Thaco in manufacturing and doing business with Mazda automobiles in Vietnam. This year, more than 32,000 units were sold, making up 12% of the country’s automobile market share.

PM Phuc recognized and hailed the achievements Thaco has made in recent time, especially its contributions to the economy of Quang Nam in particular and Vietnam in general. Each year, the company contributes more than VND15 trillion to the province’s budget and provides jobs for thousands of local workers.

Earlier, in 2011, Thaco cooperated with Mazda to form the Vina Mazda factory, which was put into use in 2012 with a capacity of 10,000 automobiles a year./.
