Three export commodity groups bag more than USD20 billion

As of September 15th, Vietnam had three groups of export commodities earning more than USD20 billion in turnover each, up two groups from the same period last year.

Garments and textiles bag USD21.1 billion as of September 15th, 2018. 

According to the latest statistics from the General Department of Customs, the three groups are telephones and components with nearly USD34.4 billion, garments and textiles with some USD21.1 billion; and computers, electronic products and spare parts with USD20.25 billion.

Notably, garments and textiles; computers, electronic products and spare parts hit more than USD20 billion for the first time with a year-on-year growth of nearly 17% (equivalent to USD3.042 billion) and 17.1% (USD2.96 billion), respectively.

With an export value of nearly USD75.6 billion, the three groups contributed nearly 45% of the country’s total.

Currently, telephones and components were exported to more than 120 countries and territories, in which European countries held the largest market share with some markets earning export turnover of over USD1 billion, such as France, the Netherlands and Germany.

Meanwhile, the biggest export market of garments and textiles is the US, followed by Japan and the Republic of Korea.

For computers, electronic products and spare parts, China rose to become the biggest export market over the past months./.
