Top 100 sustainable companies in Vietnam 2018 honored

(CPV) - A list of Top 100 sustainable companies in Vietnam 2018 were honored during a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 22nd by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.

The annual prestigious program on benchmarking and ranking sustainable businesses honors 100 names which are pioneers and gain outstanding achievements in the field of sustainable development.

To be selected into the rankings, around 500 registering entries have been evaluated based on Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI), which built as an effective benchmark tool for the sustainability development of business based on three main elements: economic indicators, social indicators and the influences to the environment.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Prime Minister highly valued the VCCI's initiative, in coordination with the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, to build and announce the index of sustainable development with 131 indicators in order to praise typical firms with sustainable development.

He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese business community, regardless of their scale and nationality, should strive together for the sustainable economic development target.

Several companies head the list include NovaLand, Thu Duc Housing Development Corporation, Swiss Post Solution Ltd, Tin Nghia Corporation, Sai Gon Thuong Tin -Sacombank, Loscom Vietnam, among others.

AkzoNobel Vietnam, for the second consecutive year, received the award which demonstrates its great efforts on materializing the 17 targets on sustainable development sustainability, both doing business and environmental/social impact index as well.

It is the pioneer in promoting the green architecture trend in Vietnam by not only introducing and providing customers with eco-friendly solutions but also aiming at partnering with multiple parties towards building sustainable future. Some most remarkable activities include organizing Smart City - Sustainable City seminars in June 2018; sponsoring for Sustainable Real Estate Development Conference in Ho Chi Minh city in July 2018 and organizing for Vietnamese architects on joining the Green Building Week in September 2018…

This year, the company has so far sponsored more than 30,000 liters of paints and over 3,500 volunteer hours on major projects such as “AkzoNobel accompanies you to school” towards repainting 100 schools in three years, bringing spacious and inspiring learning environment to Vietnamese young students; sponsoring for “Green Summer” on recoating hundreds of old apartments and alleys in Ho Chi Minh city; cooperating with International Union for Conservation of Nature on supporting the marine natural resources preservation for Central province of Quang Ngai’s Ly Son island with mural painting program themed “no plastic”./.
