This is the third visit by Idaho to Vietnam over the past nine years.

Idaho officials determined that trade would grow the state’s economy. In the past two years, Vietnamese diary companies and farms imported more than 8,000 dairy cows from states of the western US, including Idaho.

According to Director of the Idaho Department of Agriculture, Celia Gould, milk brought the biggest turnover in the state’s agriculture, with about 5.8 million tons a year. Idaho is among the largest milk producing states in the US.

Exports from Idaho to Vietnam also increased sharply, valued at USD11.35 million, a 55% rise over a year earlier with major export commodities being butter, milk, technology and medical equipment.

A representative from the state said it is expanding activities in agriculture. Apart from seeking export partners in Vietnam, Idaho is calling upon Vietnam’s investment in its agriculture sector./.
