Vietnam, India enhance cooperation in food industry

(CPV) - Seven Vietnamese enterprises attended the “Vibrant Tamil Nadu 2018” international food fair which was held from August 12th to 15th, in India.

Representatives from the Vietnamese firms joined the event

The event attracted the participation of more than 200 Indian companies and representatives from 30 countries around the world.

Major products introduced at the fair included food, processed food, beverage, fruits, vegetable, dried fruits, milk and dairy products, sugar and confectionery, flour of all kinds, salt, coffee, and seafood.

At the fair, Vietnamese enterprises promoted food industry, exchanged business opportunities and called upon Indian and foreign investors to pour capital into the country with many advantages from signed bilateral and multilateral agreements.

In his speech, Bui Trung Thuong, Chief of the Vietnam Trade Office in India highlighted Indian partners on Vietnam-India economic and trade ties, the prospects of the Vietnamese food sector and opportunities for the two countries’ businesses.

India ranks 27th among 126 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with nearly 200 projects worth about USD875 million. In 2017, two-way trade reached USD7.63 billion and the figure is expected to hit USD15 billion in 2020./.
