This was said by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao, President of VCA, in a meeting with Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Head of National Economic Research Institute (NERI) of Laos, in a meeting held on March 21st, in Hanoi.

Over the past time, the Party and State of Vietnam had many right policies and suitable mechanisms to attract young and active human resources to create best conditions for developing the cooperative economy, Mr. Bao said. While he also stressed that VCA is playing an important and core role in building and developing the cooperatives system.

Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh said Vietnam and Laos always have special cooperative relations. In any development process, the two countries help and support each other and share value lessons and experiences.

“Coming back to Vietnam after two years from the previous trip, I was really surprised by the rapid development and change in Vietnam. I hope that the results from the trip will bring valuable lessons to be applied in Laos, especially those on development of the cooperative economy in Vietnam,” he added.

According to VCA, Vietnam has so far had more than 22,000 cooperatives, an increase of 3,500 cooperatives against 2013. Many re-organized or newly established cooperatives are operating effectively, especially those related to value chain, safe food provision and craft villages./.
