In his speech at the launch ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu Huynh, Head of VIAC, said that the promulgation of the Civil Procedure Code 2015 and Decree 22/2017/ND-CP on Commercial Mediation institutionalized the Politburo’s Resolution 49-NQ/TW dated June 2nd, 2005 on the Judicial Reform Strategy until 2020, in which it emphasized encouraging the settlement of some disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and court support by deciding to recognize the settlement.

With the launch of VMC and announcing the mediation code and organization regulations; the center will be one of the first organizations in Vietnam to function as a service provider for dispute settlement related to trade issues through mediation on the basis of Decree 22/2017/ND-CP.

The mediation code, drafted by the VMC’s editorial team, with the participation of the WB Group’s IFC mediation specialists, includes 15 articles, describing the sequences, steps, instructions and mandatory principles of a mediation procedure at the VMC.

Founded in 1993 under the initiative of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, VIAC gradually completed arbitration procedures which nearly meet international standards to provide better business and investment activities for the business community./.
