Vietnam’s trade surplus hit USD6.8 billion in 11 months

(CPV) – The latest statistics by the General Department of Customs showed that total commodity export and import turnover in Jan-Nov 2018 reached an estimated USD440.45 billion, a year-on-year rise of 13.4%.

Of this, exports were valued at USD223.63 billion, up 14.4%, while import turnover posted USD216.82 billion, up 12.4%.

In November 2018, the total value was estimated at USD43.6 billion, down 1.6% from the previous month, including USD21.6 billion of export turnover, down 4.1% and USD22 billion of import turnover, up 1.1%.

With these, Vietnam’s commodity trade balance in November saw a trade deficit of USD400 million, equivalent to 1.9% of the total value. However, regarding the 11 months, the country still enjoyed a trade surplus of USD6.8 billion.

According to the Vietnam State Treasury, state budget collection from export-import activities from November 1st to 26th, 2018, reached VND23.954 trillion, bringing the figure from the start of the year to November 26th to VND 279.126 trillion, equal to 98.6% of the estimate or 95.3% of the set target (VND293 trillion)./.
