The traders are Vietnam Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood 2) with 50,000 tons, Gia International Corporation with 50,000 tons, Tan Long Group JSC with 50,000 tons and Hiep Loi Food Company with 25,000 tons.

In early July, the National Food Authority of the Philippines invited bids for the importing of 250,000 tons of rice under Government-to-Private (G2P) instead of Government-to-Government (G2G) scheme. The volume of rice was divided into eight consignments of two 50,000-ton batches and six 25,000-ton batches.

The rice import aims to increase the amount of rice reserved to meet consumption demand during the country’s between-crop period from July to September.

The contract winners will deliver the rice volume in August-September 2017./.
