Vietnamese companies develop rubber plantation in Cambodia

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh on March 27th worked with Governor of Kampong Thom, Sok Lou about the operation of Vietnamese companies in planting, processing and exporting rubber, reported Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Over the past 12 years of investing in Cambodia, the Vietnam Rubber Group has established two groups planting, exploiting and processing rubber latex in Kampong Thom with a total value of more than USD750 million and having planted nearly 90,000 hectares; creating jobs for over 15,000 local workers. 

In his speech at the event, Mr. Sok Lou hailed the operation Vietnamese rubber investors in the province for creating jobs for many local people and bringing high economic efficiency for the two countries.

Currently, Kampong Thom and two neighboring provinces Siem Reap and Preah Vihear have eight rubber planting companies (Group 1) under the Vietnam Rubber Group.

Last year, the group produced 26,160 tons of rubber latex and exported 25,704 tons; earning a revenue of USD29.39 million. This year, Group 1 will tap rubber latex on an area of 31,000 hectares with more than 6,500 direct workers.

Vietnamese Ambassador expressed thanks to the leaders and the locality for creating opportunities for Vietnamese rubber companies to operate and invest, while suggesting that the local authorities should pay more attention to protecting assets of the companies and offer more favorable mechanisms for worker recruitment./.
