The ministry expects the second quarter will have new orders because Vietnam’s rice price is more competitive than other countries.

The Vietnam Food Association said the price of Vietnamese rice is USD35-45 a ton lower than that of Thailand.

Specifically, 25% broken rice of Thailand costs USD378-382 a ton, and 5% broken rice costs USD393-397 a ton, while 25% broken rice of Vietnam is priced USD335-339 a ton and 5% broken rice is priced USD355-359 a ton.

In the first two months of the year, the Philippines topped markets importing Vietnamese rice with a 40.2% share, while markets seeing sharp growth in value are Angola (up 9.5 fold), the Ivory Coast (up 6.1 fold), Hong Kong – China, South Africa and Australia (up two fold)./.
