Vietnamese overseas investment hits some USD200 million

Vietnamese firms invested nearly USD200 million in foreign markets in the first half of 2019, reported the Ministry of Investment and Planning’s Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).

Of this, nearly USD104 million came from 71 newly-licensed projects while the rest was poured into 19 ongoing projects with an additional capital of USD96.1 million.

Science and technology absorbed most of the capital with nearly USD82 million, equivalent to 41% of the total; following by banking with USD37.1 million (18.6%) and information and telecommunication with 31.7 million (15.8%).

In the six months, Vietnamese businesses invested in 29 countries and territories. With a large-scale project worth USD59.8 million, Spain topped the country’s overseas investment, equivalent to 29.9% of the total. It was followed by the USD with USD45 million (19%).

Other destinations for Vietnamese investments were Australia, Malaysia, South Africa and Canada./.
