Viettel Global serves 36 million subscribers so far

(CPV) - Viettel Global Investment JSC organized a shareholders' meeting on April 25th to approve its business plan in 2017, aiming to reach total revenue nearly USD1.4 billion with over 50 million costumers.

According to business operation results in 2016, total international investment in telecommunications increased two-fold in compared with the last year.

Notably, new markets in Africa saw sharp growth, including Viettel Tanzania (1,343%), Viettel Cameroon (43%), and Viettel Burundi (42%).

So far, cumulative subscribers of Viettel Global in the nine international markets hit around 36 million, demonstrating its right-track policy in penetrating subscribers with 4G services, value-added services and mobile applications.

In the first quarter of this year, its pre-tax profit increased USD39.3 million in comparison with the same period last year, mainly by providing information and telecommunications solutions to giant enterprises and Government agencies.

As planned, Viettel Global set a target to attract 12.9 new subscribers, thus bringing its cumulative subscribers in the overseas markets to nearly 50 million, a 35% growth rate.

The total revenue is expected to reach nearly USD1.4 billion, seeing a growth rate of 29%.

The “mother” company, Vietnam military-run telecommunications group Viettel, aims to enter a larger population scale market of 100-200 million./.
