Viettel, HCM city cooperate in building smart urban area

The Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee and Vietnam Military-run Telecommunications Group (Viettel) have signed a cooperative deal to build the southern hub into a smart urban area in the 2017-2020 period, with a vision to 2025.

Under the deal, the two sides will cooperate in the fields of operating centres, shared data warehouse, information security and safety, solutions for IT infrastructure, health, education, transport and telecommunications infrastructure.

In addition, they will also associate in research, production and application of Microchip products under the city’s Microchip Industry Development Program.

Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the project of building Ho Chi Minh city into a smart urban area was approved by the Executive Board of the city Party’s Committee and received idea contributions of the city People’s Council and it will be announced on November 25th, 2017.

He stressed the development of the city is meeting challenges and burdens; in which the Government’s forecast capacity is weak. Thus, the deal with very significant technological solutions will help to solve the challenges; offering opportunities for the hub to sustainably develop on the basis of high-value added industries./.
